Originally built in 1955, this Bay Area residence held particular meaning for its owners: it was the home where the husband grew up. Marea Clark Interiors approached that history with care, preserving the original footprint while reimagining the interiors and landscape for contemporary family life. Taken down to the studs over the course of a three-year renovation, the home was refined to improve circulation, open key sight lines, and create a stronger relationship between indoors and out. The surrounding grounds were also transformed, including the renovation of an existing structure into a pool house and the redesign of the pool as a central gathering place. The interiors balance the couple’s contrasting sensibilities: her preference for polished, refined rooms and his affection for a more relaxed, rustic spirit. Family heirlooms, natural materials, custom furnishings, and contemporary pieces come together in a home that feels enduring, personal, and closely connected to its setting.
